Christmas at the Bakemans

Apparently Cory and I were more excited about Christmas morning than Maggie was. I programmed the coffee maker the night before, stockings were ready (mine had one box in it making it look like a snake who swallowed a mouse), and all the presents were tucked under the tree. So around 6:30 in the morning Cory and I got our cups of coffee, turn the Christmas tree lights on and wait, and wait...waiting. Maggie is snoozing away waaaay past her typical 6:30 wake up. Cory and I were like little kids, some how justifing opening our stockings and just one present as we waited for our child to wake.

Finally Maggie wakes at 7:30, never in her life has she slept in that late! She loved her gifts and the wrapping they came in even more. Our house now looks like a daycare with the amount of toys she recieved. Our living room is now decorated with a tent, shopping cart, princess chair, dump truck, pink and purple bike and a "car". And that doesn't even include the smaller toys! Oh well, they really do make her happy and challenge that developing brain of hers.

I can't complain with the gifts that I recieved. I have a new pocket knife, fabric cutting mat, earrings, books and socks. But I'd have to say my favorite was a small piece of fabric with Maggie's hand print that Cory surged on. Yes I said surge, my husband is a fantastic closet sewing master. Each year he will trace her little hand so eventually I can make a quilt with my little one's prints. How awesome.

This Christmas Cory and I wanted Maggie to wake up at her own house, so we turned down our parent's pleading invites to join them. "So...you guys aren't coming up at all?" Sorry, we are being selfish this year, if you want to see us, you have to come down here. But as I talked to my sisters and brothers and moms and dads I started to get a little sad that I wasn't up there. My mom and Jim were probably sick of how many times I called just to say hi.

We had a nice Christmas dinner, a homemade lasagna made by my husband, who is a quite a cook, and a chocolate ginger cake for dessert. Followed by many games of Bananagrams.

It was a wonderful Christmas.
